              The Wallflower

Hey my name is Meshanni or Nurse Memi (whichever you'd prefer) and welcome to The Wallflower. The Wallflower is so special to me because it came at a very special time in my life. This blog is created by me and the point of it is for me to tell my story and motivate others through my experiences. Not only did I want to create something for nurses but I wanted to create something relatable for women, students, young women, scholars, go-getters and over achievers all over the world. I wanted to create this for you.

Heres the beginning of my story...

I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. My goal for becoming a nurse all started out in high-school, 11th grade to be exact. I was literally obsessed with science. Biology, Chemistry, Living environment...they were all my favorite. In addition to my love for science, I was very intrigued by the women's reproductive system. I thought it was interesting how scientifically, the body was able to work. Like how could a human.. a woman for that matter carry and create life? Jaw dropping! After a couple of weeks of research and talking with my teachers, I decided that I was going to become a Midwife. Science, and the women's reproductive system all in one ? Couldn't beat that if you asked me. Never in a million years did I think I'd end up in the Emergency Department and actually LOVE it.

Ive been practicing as a Registered Nurse for four years. I spent six months on a Respiratory Rehab unit, 1.5 years on a medical surgical/telemetry unit and two years in the Emergency Department  and oh my gosh guys I know I said this before but I absolutely love it! Something about the unpredictability, the autonomy, taking care of people under heightened, stressful situations, the adrenaline rush.... something about it all I Live for it ! (We'll get into further detail as the blog series continues)

The Wallflower...

If I had to choose an important word to describe me it would be Wallflower. Wallflower is a synonym for the word introvert. Many times when people hear the word introvert it is almost always associated with such negative things, but Wallflowers are so much more. They're delicate but intricate, seen, but rarely heard, reticent and reserved. Many people fail to see the value of The Wallflower, because many do not truly understand what it means. Today most people are all about extraversion, that the miss the beauty of being a Wallflower. Its not all about being shy or antisocial. But more-so being free spirited, staying true to yourself and taking in the parts of the world that others miss.

Welcome to The Wallflower
